Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the biggest brands in the IPL, but even after 17 seasons, their trophy shortage is not over. Despite having a star player like Virat Kohli, the team continues to face failures, the main reason behind this is failed management and lack of planning.

Failed captaincy changes and lack of leadership

RCB changed several captains from 2008 to 2025 -

Virat Kohli (2013-2021)

RCB has always had world-class batsmen, but bowling and all-rounders have been the main issue of their failure.

Poor bowling :- RCB lost bowlers like Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Rashid Khan, Mitchell Starc. Since there are no good bowlers in the team, the responsibility of winning matches lies just with the batsmen.

Loss due to mistakes in selection of new players :- RCB's special feature is to buy players at high prices every year and release them without giving them a proper chance.

These players have quality, but will they be game-changers for the team? The team has a history of spending money only on big names without thinking about it.

Wrong returns and hasty decisions

Retaining the wrong players and releasing the right ones :-  Players like KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, Marcus Stoinis, were released even though they were in the team and then these same players became match winners for other teams.

Wasting young players :-  Players like Devdutt Padikkal, Mohammed Siraj, Shivam Dube were not handled properly.

Ignoring player injuries :- Injuries of Hazlewood, Harshal Patel, Siraj were not addressed on time, as a result the team's bowling was always weak.

Wrong strategy at the wrong time

Excluding players with good form :- Players who performed well are not given a place in the final team.

Failure to maintain the pace in the middle overs :- The team always tries to increase the pace of runs in the last overs, but fails in it.

Poor bowling changes :- The captain often changed bowlers at the wrong time and lost the match.
